About AR Wills & Estate Planning
With 24 years of experience in the Army followed by 15 years in local government, my journey into will writing began with a personal tragedy. The sudden passing of a friend, who died intestate (without a will) highlighted to me the importance of having a will and made me realize the necessity of proper estate planning.
“In English law, if someone dies without leaving a valid will, their estate is distributed according to the rules of intestacy. These rules dictate how the deceased’s assets will be divided among their surviving relatives. Typically, the spouse or civil partner and children are the first to inherit, followed by other close relatives if there is no surviving spouse or children. Intestacy rules do not consider the deceased’s wishes, making it essential to have a valid will to ensure assets are distributed according to their preferences.”
In 2019, I obtained my practitioner’s certificate in wills from Countrywide Tax and Trust. Subsequently, I joined a national estate planning company, in 2020. In 2023, I joined a famous high street Solicitors in Hinckley, serving as their dedicated will writer and estate planner. It was during this time that I recognized the need for a more personalized approach to estate planning, one that allows me to spend quality time understanding my clients’ needs and getting to know them beyond the standard consultation hour.
With a passion for explaining legal documents in plain language, I am committed to providing my clients with a clear understanding of their estate planning options. Outside of work, I enjoy playing in a brass band, and together with my son, I am an avid supporter of Leicester City Football Club.
